Luke Wright: On Form
Presented by Luke Wright
Running time: 1 hour 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.
Suitable for all.
charity. comedy. family. live music. opera. play. poetry. storytelling.
Luke Wright is on form. Watch him as he rattles through a range of poetic structures (sonnet ballad, single vowel poems and more) from the romantic to the ridiculous. Wright bends language to his will and the results entertain even the most hardened poetry-hater.
Once you impose form on thought and feeling it begins to shape it. The rules of the form render the writer unable to say exactly what he damn well pleases. The work is pulled in strange and wonderful directions.
How then do the forms in which we exist, the structures of class, wealth and place, affect the people we become? Luke delves deeper into his childhood in middle class suburbia and the one he might have had in inner London if he’d not been adopted. Don’t come expecting answers.

Starboard Home: An Evening of Sea Shanties and Songs.
Presented by The Silver Darlings
Running time: 2 hours, including a 20 minute interval.
Suitable for all.
charity. comedy. family. live music. opera. play. poetry. storytelling.
The Silver Darlings are an acclaimed all-female shanty crew hailing from Southend, Essex. Making their return to Thorington Theatre for the second time, these girls have performed all around the UK, including some iconic venues such as the Cutty Sark and the Golden Hinde as well as at a number of international shanty festivals.
Their debut album Maiden Voyage was very well received, obtaining a four-star review in Folk Magazine, and the girls are working on their second album Whaling Women which will be released soon.
Lively and energetic, these girls will regale you with their beautiful harmonies, mixing traditional shanties with other songs of the sea and topped off with a heady dose of humour. You'll want to join in and sing along!
Supporting them are the FelixStowaways. The band formed in 2014 after ‘skipper’ Norman put an advert in the local free magazine seeking others who may be interested in starting a shanty band in Felixstowe. The rest, as they say, is history. The band sing shanties, sea songs and songs of the sea, a capella, as they would have been sung on board ship.
They perform at local events, charity gigs, festivals, carnivals and private functions. They are regulars at the prestigious Harwich International Shanty Festival, and made their ninth appearance there in October 2024. They have also travelled to Leeuwarden in the Netherlands on two occasions to perform at ShantyCafe events, and have hosted four of their own ShantyCafes in Felixstowe.

“a culinary Bill Bailey, with chopping boards instead of keyboards. It is a multi-sensory delight to spend an hour with him” SCOTSMAN
George Egg is the comedian who cooks. This award-winning, multi-sell-out, international-touring performer presents a delightful evening’s cooking-with-laughs comprising the best bits from his previous acclaimed shows, plus a few new surprises.
“There is a mischievousness about Egg’s humour that is deeply lovable” GRACE DENT in GUARDIAN
Over the past half-decade George has toured three shows (‘Anarchist Cook’, ‘DIY Chef’ and ‘Movable Feast’), he’s cooked over a thousand dishes, all of them in front of a live audience and none of them with a kitchen.
Revisiting those unlikely environments armed with the chef’s skills he’s honed, expect to learn how to make food on a train with a laptop, in a shed with power tools and in a hotel room with the appliances they unwittingly provide you with.
Three plates of gourmet food prepared in the most unconventional of ways and with the opportunity to taste the results at the end. It’s time for the funniest recipes and the most delicious jokes.

Sense and Sensibility (7pm)
Presented by Viva Arts and Community Group
Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes, including a 20 minute interval. Suitable for all ages.
charity. comedy. family. live music. opera. play. poetry. storytelling.
By Kate Hamill
Based on the novel by Jane Austen
A playful new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters—sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne—after their father’s sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable.
Set in gossipy late 18th-century England, with a fresh female voice, the play is full of humour, emotional depth, and bold theatricality. Sense and Sensibility examines our reactions, both reasonable and ridiculous, to societal pressures. When reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?
Join Viva Theatre Company for a fast-paced, physical and thoroughly entertaining rendition of the classic novel.
The world premiere of Sense and Sensibility was produced by Bedlam (Eric Tucker, Artistic Director; Andrus Nichols, Producing Director).
Sense and Sensibility is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection.
About Viva Arts and Community Group
Established in 1997, Viva produces award-winning multi-generational shows within its own theatre in Soham, Cambridgeshire, and other venues as well as at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where productions have received five-star reviews.
